“I left car in garage- fine. I go back later to get in Patriot, I find the passenger side headrest deployed/popped open. The vehicle was sitting there. I hadn't even turned it on when I noticed it. I have been in no accident (at least within the last year). It now decides to deploy on its own.”

NHTSA complaint #11326871, filed 2020-06, 106,000 miles

“My car is not starting. This is the third time this year that I had to bring it in to the dealership. The red bolt goes on last two times and I was on the road driving and it slowed down. This time it won't work. I took it to dealership twice already and it's less than two months apart. Third time happening now.”

NHTSA complaint #11162382, filed 2018-12, 58,000 miles

“Jeep was skipping while driving. It would not accelerate when, it was just move slowly. I brought it to a transmission specialist , he took it out of my car for diagnostic because he claimed he could not determine the problem by driving or computer. Charged $840 and stated the transmission could not be repaired it had to be rebuilt. I could not afford the price quoted. They placed the transmission in my trunk.”

NHTSA complaint #11231331, filed 2019-07, 110,000 miles

“The driver seat headrest deployed without warning or cause. The car was parked in my driveway overnight, no car or object hit the car. When I got in the car and put it in reverse I noticed the headrest had been deployed. It was possible it happened over night or as the car was stationary and put in reverse. This is extremely dangerous and is a well known problem online. There is no recall for this and this will apparently cost me $800 or more to repair, or I can drive around with no head rest.”

NHTSA complaint #11395974, filed 2021-02, 92,000 miles

“The check engine light came on and the car had a roughy start just three weeks ago and I was told I had a bad alternator my car stopped when I was driving. Then it happened again three weeks later and I was told my 2014 Jeep Patriot had a bad throttle body and again my vehicle stopped as it was in motion in traffic. The first time it stopped I was on a city street the second time I hadn't even cleared my driveway it stopped in the street and I was able to start it again I parked it in my driveway and then had it towed to the dealership”
