Example complaints

One per model year, chosen for length and detail. Personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

2015: “The spare tire holder mounted on the rear bumper broke while traveling on the interstate at 70 MPH in heavy traffic. We were shocked to see how light it was made after it broke. No injuries happen but this could have easily turned out differently. We did not find our spare tire.”

NHTSA complaint #10885387, filed 2016-07, 2,000 miles

2010: “Driving down I-5 the weld between the interior part of the wheel rim and the exterior part of the rim broke. Our 5th wheel trailer is a 2010, but notice that a recall has been made on some of the 2011 Keystone trailers. [bowman fixed consumer comment: this is a Keystone Cougar, not what is shown under the description on page 3 ].”

NHTSA complaint #10381746, filed 2011-02, 2,000 miles

2008: “Spare tire holder on extendable bumper of my 5th wheel trailer failed at welds with a st 235 80r 16 tire on it. Caught it as I was rotating tires and removed tire from holder. I repaired it by welding a brace on it but it failed again at another weld. I removed it and scrapped it, and carry a spare in back of the truck. 6-10-12 I read the recall on the good sam website and realized I had the same problem. Updated 07/25/12”
