“Bought 2006 Kia Sedona new in 2007. No issues until early 2008 with less than 15k miles. Engine light on and sometimes blinking. Vehicle stalls when in gear and at a stop. Vehicle hesitates when driving, often jerking violently. Have had in for warranty service at least four times. Many sensors replaced. Service provider states Kia advised vehicle is drivable even when engine light in blinking. No way for me as a consumer to tell if I am doing damage to engine or other component. Stalling and jerking is safety issue. …”

NHTSA complaint #10231654, filed 2008-06, 16,483 miles

“I bought my 2006 Kia Sedona brand new. After taking delivery of it, my family and I took the vehicle home. As we stopped in traffic, we immediately noticed a misfire of the engine. We drove it another mile or so, thinking the glitch would remedy itself. Upon stopping at another intersection, we observed the same misfire/trembling as before. Not knowing what was happening, we drove home. We took it back to the dealer that same night. The dealer was very apologetic, and offered us a used competitor's minivan as transportation until they resolved the problem. …”

NHTSA complaint #10183083, filed 2007-02, 75 miles

“Our Sedona van intermittently looses all power. When this happens the RPM's drop to 1000rpm and nothing happens when you push down the accelerator pedal. This happened 3 times today. The first was upon initial start up. The check engine light and ESC off light came on. We turned off the car and when we restarted the check engine light stayed on, but the car had power. We drove it the dealership and they said there were 3 codes all indicating low engine voltage. They cleared the codes and said they found nothing wrong and it should not happen again. Latter in the day it happened two more times. …”

NHTSA complaint #10240026, filed 2008-08, 24,734 miles

“Kia Sedona 2006 - engine stalled on highway, no response from the accelerator - the check engine light came on as well as the 'ESC off' light. This can happen when driving in city or highway... Extremely dangerous! Pulled-over, turned off engine then restarted to correct the problem. Dealer states tps (throttle position sensor) and/or accelerator position sensor malfuctioning.”

NHTSA complaint #10426627, filed 2011-09, 61,300 miles

“Heavy rattling coming from tensioners/timing chain (per dealer) when starting the vehicle. After you drive around and park for ten minutes then restart it comes back louder .the dealer says it is normal and that all Kia vehicles make this sound .they are going to put in a second set of tensioners to try to get rid of this noise ..”
