“Airbag light won't go off; I'm told it needs a new ocs mat which requires a whole new passenger seat over 2,000. Why isn't this the responsibility of the manuf to replace? 5 months past the 5-year warranty and they won't give me any discount. In my opinion, the liability should fall on the manufacturer for items like this and not the consumer (feel more like a sucker).”
NHTSA complaint #11105250, filed 2018-07, 73,000 miles“The airbag light came on and remained on. We took it to the dealership to have it tested. First we had to pay a fee to have the diagnostic test run. We were then informed that the sensor in the passenger seat had gone bad and the airbags would not deploy without us repairing it. The cost to repair it was $2,000 because the entire seat had to be replaced. That was two weeks ago. Now the airbag light is on again.”
NHTSA complaint #11344208, filed 2020-08, 120,000 miles“My airbag warning light indicator has illuminated. When researching the problem online, it came to my attention that this is a very common problem that mostly occurs in vehicles that, like mine, have just surpassed the warranty period. If hundreds of car owners have experienced this same safety issue, why is it not a problem covered under a recall?”
NHTSA complaint #10840443, filed 2016-03, 60,300 miles“My airbag light turned on several months ago and while having a recent recall for something else taken care of they fixed the issue with the airbag. It is now on again and I am concerned for the safety of myself and passengers not knowing what the issue really is. I was given an appointment for next week to have it looked at and was not given any idea of whether this would be my expense or kis'a.”
NHTSA complaint #11074196, filed 2018-02, 130,000 miles“I got in my vehicle to drive it like normal and my air bag symbol came on and never went back off. No noises so far or other areas of concern. I had just started up the vehicle from being stationary like it is daily in the same spot from when I return home from work.”
