“The contact owned a 2006 Lexus GS430. While driving approximately 5 MPH, the contact drove through a small puddle of water. The vehicle accelerated and the contact was unable to control the steering. The brake pedal was stiff and the contact could not steer or brake to control the vehicle. The contact crashed into a parked vehicle. The contact notified the manufacturer. The vehicle was destroyed and towed to an independent mechanic. The VIN was unknown. The failure mileage was 21,000.”
NHTSA complaint #10779042, filed 2015-10, 21,000 miles“The contact owns a 2006 Lexus GS430. The contact was driving 70 MPH when the vehicle started to vibrate violently. The contact then took the vehicle to the dealer who stated that he would give the contact new rims. The dealer stated that the contact would have to pay for the tires. The contact later advised the dealer that the steering rack malfunctioned. The dealer agreed to repair the steering failure; however, refused to replace the tires. The manufacturer has not been informed of the failures. The approximate failure mileage was 49000 and the current mileage was 75000.”
