Example complaints

Brakes: “My check pcs and vbs lights came on and went off. I continue to drive and my breaks worked fine for a week. Driving home on a side street crossing a bridge and a piercing beep came on and would not go off. I think that was an indicator ro pull off the road. I took my foot off the accelerator and slowly guided to side of bridge and called my husband. I had a diagnostics and was told that is ABS accelerator and that and the part is $2500 without labor. This is a safety hazard that my brakes gave out and should be on the recall list. My car is 2006 GS430 with 106,000 miles.”

NHTSA complaint #10853580, filed 2016-04, 106,000 miles

Steering: “The contact owned a 2006 Lexus GS430. While driving approximately 5 MPH, the contact drove through a small puddle of water. The vehicle accelerated and the contact was unable to control the steering. The brake pedal was stiff and the contact could not steer or brake to control the vehicle. The contact crashed into a parked vehicle. The contact notified the manufacturer. The vehicle was destroyed and towed to an independent mechanic. The VIN was unknown. The failure mileage was 21,000.”

NHTSA complaint #10779042, filed 2015-10, 21,000 miles

Suspension: “I have a 2006 Lexus gs 430 with 17500 miles. When rotating tires at 8000 miles I noticed unusual wear on the inside edge of the front tires. I had the dealership check the alignment. At 17000 miles the wear on the inside edge continued and was a serious safety risk. The wear is difficult to see as it is on the inside edge of the tire and only noticeable with the tire removed on wheel turned full left or right. The wear resembles a groove or channel wearing on the inside edge of the contact patch on the tire. Discount tire inspected the tires and concluded camber wear. …”

NHTSA complaint #10250810, filed 2008-12, 17,000 miles

Vehicle speed control: “Front right wheel makes loud banging sound. Started when the car had about 70,000 miles on it. Then came a horrible squeaking sound. This occurs constantly when driving and especially when turning the wheel. I replaced the lower control arm bushing in june. They were completely gone and made the wheels have a lot of play . The noise went away for about 3 months and is now back louder than ever.”
