“I have complained about the melting and stickiness of my dashboard and door panels already but no resolution have taken place by the Lexus or manufacturer. I have called the service department over 9x's and very seldom I have gotten an answer or a call back. Know the dashboard is so shiny, you can't drive it due to an extreme safety hazard because of the glare not being able to see! Please help to get this problem fixed. People lives are at stake when driving these cars.”

Door panels melt also leaving particles in your fingernails gotta clean my kids nails everyday and make sure they wash there hands everytime opening the door cause kids will be kids and sticks fingers in there mouths im very nervous about these particles falling off and melting we are breathing in whatever hazardous material is used to make the dash . …”

I began researching the issue, and from what I have found this is a common problem with Lexus and toyota. Lexus has even issued a tsib, yet doesn't tell their customers in time before their 50000mi/4 year warranty is up, so they wont be responsible for covering the cost. …”
NHTSA complaint #10547531, filed 2013-10, 75,000 miles“The dashboard of my 2008 Lexus is250 melts away everyday as well as the the drivers and passenger side door panels. The melted dashboard causes a glare directly in the viewing sight of the driver especially on really hot and sunny days here in south florida. This causes driving vision to be impaired. The door panels and dashboard leave prints on your hands and fingers when they are touched.”

After temperature in the car and on the dash return to a more moderate temperature, the dashboard is no longer shiny, but it is tacky. Problem is when the dashboard is out in the sun and it gets shiny. This causes a fairly bad glare on the front windshield since the sun is reflecting off the dashboard and on to the front windshield. At times it is hard to determine what is in front of you if the dashboards glare reflects the sun in a certain way. …”
