“The powertrain control module and coils went bad. Had the car towed to the dealer. Was told that there was a technical service bulletin (TSB 14-0059) on 2007-2008 Lincoln MKZ's. I was told that my VIN # was not one of the problem cars covered. My car is a 2007 Lincoln MKZ I feel that Lincoln is in error and I should be covered fully for repair.”
NHTSA complaint #10702233, filed 2015-03, 44,000 miles“While entering access ramp to highway, at approx 30 MPH, the transmission shifted hard and I noticed the tachometer rise to 4000rpm and stay at that level. The vehicle would not shift. I did manage to enter the highway but the highest speed I could garner was 55mph all the while the tach stayed at 4-5000 RPM and continued to race. Since that time, I have noticed leaking fluids from the transmission and informed that I need a new transmission.”
NHTSA complaint #10766320, filed 2015-09, 164,000 miles“When the wheel speed sensor went bad the car went into limp mode as I was entering the road from a parking lot. I narrowly missed getting hit. Very dangerous situation.”
NHTSA complaint #11152193, filed 2018-11, 130,000 miles“When you are slowing down from a speed of 30 or over you can feel the transmission kick. When you are stopping from regular road speeds and or highway speeds the transmission feels like it is kicking. Best way to describe it is you stop and then you feel a bump. It is not normal. Feels almost like a very hard down shift only by that point you are already stopped.”
NHTSA complaint #10619064, filed 2014-08, 65,000 miles“The Lincoln was taken to a ford dealer for a whinning noise and smell of natural gas when car is cold. Dealer indicated it was noise from scored rotors. On january 18,2012 sound grew worse and sounded like parts were grinding. Took to a dealer and the dealer indicated the transfer case was failing, parts were disentegrating in case (called it a plu). The recommendation was not to drive because dangerous if fails and could also require new transmission.”
