“Our Mazda 2001 tribute has been leaking brake fluid and mechanic said it may be something with master cylinder. After searching the internet I found Mazda had a recall (#6712a) that covered 2001-2002 model year tribute suvs for a faulty brake master cylinder reservoir cap. We called Mazda and spoke to a rep. Katrina said your car does not qualify because you do not have ABS brakes . Whether we have ABS brakes or not we should be able to have our car checked in this recall for our safety. We should not be excluded from this recall. Please let us know what needs to be done.”

NHTSA complaint #10683599, filed 2015-02, 150,000 miles

“I have put so much money in this car. Alternator, transmission, brakes, tires and ball joints. Now the catalytic converter needs replaced, wiper motor and quarter panels are all rusted out. I am disabled and this is my only transportation. Should all of this should of gone wrong? It will not pass inspection. I have had this car eight years.”

NHTSA complaint #10670033, filed 2015-01

“I have a 2001 Mazda 626. The over drive light began to flash, within 15 minutes I was at the dealer. I need a new transmission. My car is not showing any signs of failure. The light keeps flashing. I put an external transmission radiator and the light has not turned on. I have to replace my brakes 4 times in six months. They say it is my driving. How can this be? Once it took them a week to put brake pads. That monday they said it needed rotors and did not have the parts. That friday I picked up my car and they said it did not need rotors after all!!! …”

NHTSA complaint #10046939, filed 2003-11

“2001 Mazda 626 at 30,000 mile check. Rotors are rusting more than usual, with only about 70% contact with the break pads. It still under warranty, but not a warranty. According to the dealership. They claims that this is a wear and tear item. I claim that this is a safety issue. The average for repair work on breaks is about 40-50,000 miles. This is well under that and 90% highway driving. This issue needs to be evaluated.”
