“While driving 65 MPH the gas pedal descended to the floorboard and the vehicle reached a speed of 90 MPH. The consumer tired to gain control of the truck by applying the brakes but they failed. The consume had to turn the engine off to coast to the side of the road. Both the manufacturer and the dealership were contacted. Please provide any additional information.”
NHTSA complaint #10052095, filed 2003-12“On long trips, often in cold, wet or snowy weather, the engine will occasionally rev out of control. This is not an issue of the throttle cable icing up because turning the engine off and restarting it (which is the last thing you want to do while still moving on icy roads) temporarily resolves the issue. Therefore, it seems to be most likely an electrical problem. No diagnostic trouble codes (DTCS) are registered in the computer's memory, therefore no information exists by which to diagnose the problem. …”
NHTSA complaint #10147780, filed 2006-01“The contact owns a 1994 Mazda B-Series Truck. While the vehicle was parked, it independently accelerated, crashed into a fence, and drove over the owner of the vehicle. The owner sustained fatal injuries. The vehicle was towed to an impound lot where the failure recurred, almost striking two police officers. A police report was filed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was not available.”
NHTSA complaint #10788450, filed 2015-11“Throttle sticks while driving, especially while traveling down hills, consumer states that it is difficult to brake and control the vehicle when this happens.”
NHTSA complaint #785298, filed 2001-02“The gas pedal sticks at any speed and when first starting the truck.this happen before and was supposedly fixed, but has reoccurred again. Has there been a recall on this problem.”
