“While traveling at 45mph, experienced sudden loss of power. Cel came on and trouble p3001 was the code display on handheld reader. Car is out of warranty, dealer states several components within engine have failed and Mazda has no responsibility over failures since I do not have an extended warranty. I have researched the problem production years 2007 and 2008 are plagued with premature engine failure.”
NHTSA complaint #10501868, filed 2013-03, 76,100 miles“On sunday, january 4, 2015, I was driving my 2008 Mazda CX-7 and I stopped at a stoplight. When I tried to take off when the light turned green, my car hesitated and when I pressed on the gas peddle a little more, it still hesitated then finally took off. All of a sudden, I heard an extremely loud popping noise, and then thick, heavy white smoke started to come out of the tailpipe. The white smoke then started flowing out from under the hood, and it started to come into the car through the air vents. …”
NHTSA complaint #10679073, filed 2015-01, 87,177 miles“My Mazda cx7 - 2008 has only 70,000 miles and the engine light went on and after bringing it to a mechanic and checking the codes with a computer, it came up that the EGR valve needs to be replaced. All the mechanics that I talked with were really surprise and asked me if the Mazda cx7 - 2008 has a recall on the egv valve because it is not normal that with that little miles the EGR valve need to be replaced. I have checked on the internet and I'm seeing many other owners that are having the same issue. I think there is a factory defect with the EGR valve for this model.”
NHTSA complaint #10721482, filed 2015-05, 70,000 miles“As I was driving my Mazda ( with a turbo engine) along the highway it began to decelerate on its own and making a loud knocking/grinding noise. It stopped on the road going up a hill with no turnouts. So it appears that the turbo blew up. It will start, but I cannot go anywhere. I have also had to replace gaskets on my oil filter housing unit, as the stock gaskets were faulty and causing a severe oil leak. Also, my emissions regulation ( EGR) valve is bad and therefore will not pass smog. Each of these issues I am seeing more and more complaints about from other owners of the same vehicle. …”
NHTSA complaint #10587041, filed 2014-05, 81,981 miles“Egr valve failure on a 2008 Mazda CX-7 with 47,500 miles. I had never heard of a EGR valve before my check engine light came on and I took it to the local auto parts store to have them tell me the error code. Took it to the dealership and they told me that the warranty for the part was 60months/60,000 miles. While I was way under on the miles, I was 5 months over on the time. Since this was my 3rd trip into the dealership over the past 5 months dealing with problems/maintenance with my CX-7, I asked why this particular part failed. I was told that it was due to the negative effects of ethanol. …”
