“I took my car into the dealer for front in wobble / noise and engine oil consumption. 3 weeks and $1980 later, the front end was worse and I was told that the oil is burning internally and needed to be replaced. Neither the dealer nor Mazda would work with me to get back some of the money. 3 months later, the transmission failed with no warning. This car is dealer maintained.”

NHTSA complaint #10098453, filed 2004-11

“Water pump starts leaking. Then radiator bust. Cooling system cost me over 500. Dollars to repair. Like a month later the transmission goes out. The gears not shifting right. Skipping gears. That's going to cost me about $800 to $2000. Dollars to get fixed.”

NHTSA complaint #717886, filed 2000-01

“I will get the rest of the totals of repairs. I have to get them from my daughter. The airbags burst open on her after she had a blow out. She was severly burned with chemical in the bags. Her eye was damaged. She lost time from her job, 4 teeth were damaged. Thank god there wasn't any traffic. The trama she went through was awful. And there's no telling if her face will be scarred. She is 20 and trying to make it on her own. Shouldn't car dealers know if they are selling recalls. Shouldn't the Mazda dealer know about this. We took it to a Mazda dealer first. The price of repair is outrageous. …”

NHTSA complaint #10069804, filed 2004-01

“The car was in an accident on 12/14/98 on the rear passager door on the driver side. Within a week to 10 days the car was repaired and delivered to me on 12/24/98. I drove the car for about a thousand miles. One day while driving to work the car started making some funny sound. I pulledover to side of the road and checked the dip stick . The dip stick showed low oil . I exited the parkwa,y heading to the nearest gas station, I fill the engine with the necessary amount of oil, the car never started again. According to the mechanic, the engine stopped . …”

NHTSA complaint #703431, filed 1999-02
