2018: “When driving on an open 2 lane county road at approximately 35-40 MPH the automatic emergency braking engaged and fully stopped the car for no reason. There was nothing in the road, I did not have cruise control on. The vehicle just stopped and beeped. There were no other cars around, so thankfully I was not rear ended, but there were no impediments in the road to cause a braking event.”
NHTSA complaint #11413451, filed 2021-04, 12,000 miles2017: “I was just driving home on a city street (9/20/18) at about 35 MPH when unexpectedly the brakes on my e43 locked up launching myself and my passenger forward against our seat belts. The anti-lock brakes engaged; I heard the rear tires chatter . The car did not come to a complete stop; the brakes disengaged and we rolled forward. Until I realized what happened I though I hit something. There was no one in front of me, but there was someone behind and beside me. …”
