NHTSA complaint #11350484, filed 2020-08, 73,000 miles

“Hello. Since I bought this car in 2015. Every now and again it will go into park when driving and tge car will stop suddenly. It has done it a few times over the years and it’s quite scary. Mercedes has put me off on you, without addressing the situation or looking at the car, unless I pay first it. I think there is a mechanical defect on this car and it is quite dangerous”

NHTSA complaint #11731078, filed 2026-04

“My car goes abruptly into park while driving or reversing at 5 mph or less. This is a big safety concern if it ever suddenly stalls in a highway, I may get into a life threatening accident. There are no warning or sensor lights that light up when this happens. I have taken it to the Mercedes Benz dealer who said it was a shift module error which I paid to fix and not even two weeks later the same problem persisted.”

The failure recurred and the vehicle was taken back to the dealer where a technician test-drove the vehicle and experienced the failure; however, the technician was unable to determine the cause of the failure.
