“Takata recall - mercedes I've just received a letter stating my 2015 mercedes glk 350 has or may have a faulty passenger side airbag or inflater related to takata's poor quality standard. I checked with mercedes and they don't foresee replacement parts being available until may 2020, which is wholly unacceptable in scope. …”
NHTSA complaint #11186901, filed 2019-03, 31,000 miles“Received notification of takata air bag recall in february 2019. Unable to get replacement from dealer. I will have to wait until may 2020 to replace the airbag. We are senior citizens and feel that having to wait over a year and a quarter to make our car safe is unreasonable.”
NHTSA complaint #11301718, filed 2020-01, 35,000 miles“Takata recall should have been done before the end of march 2018 according to a letter I received. The mercedes dealership kept telling me that the airbags were ok, or that they do not have replacements as yet. I had an accident yesterday, so I would like to inform every owner of the problem airbags to make sure that they get the new ones which they deserve.I was in the city, on a street and only impacted another car at about 5-10 MPH following a turn onto a busier street..I sustained only superficial injuries (lacerations, contusions & abbrations), and damages to my glk 350.”
NHTSA complaint #11115463, filed 2018-08, 92,000 miles“Takata recall. 1/18/19. Dealer stated no recall, then when proven, refused to replace air bag despite availability, and refused to provide loaner car. Then in email with manufacturer claimed that safe to drive and only precautionary whereas recall notice states possible deadly. Over 60 days and not received recall notice. I found by VIN search.”
