“We purchased from an old gentleman of our aquaintence this car that showed 56000 miles. The car was wobbly and un-steady. We took it to our mechanic who suggested we put new shocks which did not help. We had felt a strange floating sensation the day before while driving on the interstate. The afternoon of the incident we heard a noise in the rear and the car started shaking very bad. The driver applied brakes which caused the car to spin around and head to the ditch. He got it back on the road, applied brakes again, again lost control, finally got it stopped. …”
NHTSA complaint #770488, filed 2002-12“The contact's father owned a 1995 Mercury Grand Marquis. While driving 60 MPH, the driver veered off the road and drove over a 10-inch gap, which flattened the passenger side front and rear tires. The flat tires caused the vehicle to rollover and land on the roof. As a result, the roof caved in and killed the driver. The contact did not know who inspected the vehicle. The contact's brother believed that the death was due to a missing pillar on the roof's structure. The vehicle was destroyed and a police report was filed. The VIN appeared to be invalid. …”
