1997: “There is a leak from the top of my 1997 Nissan 240SX's fuel tank that seemed to spring up for no apparent reason. From what I've researched, this is not an uncommon problem for owners of this vehicle and is not easily fixed. I am petitioning for this to be a mandatory repair for Nissan, as this is a major safety hazard due to faulty construction and materials.”

1995: “As I was driving down the road I started smelling an extremely large gas smell so I pulled over and looked under my car and my gas tank was leaking everywhere. It has a stress crack. No puncture or anything like that. The tank just started splitting apart.”

NHTSA complaint #10731109, filed 2015-06, 217,178 miles

1990: “I have purchased this auto april 20, 2005. I drove it for approximately two weeks. Then an overpowering odor of gasoline emitted in the passenger compartment. Upon inspection of the engine compartment, there was gasoline leaking from the fuel rail. I have had the o-rings and insulators replaced on all four fuel injectors and the leak is still present. It seems that I must now replace the injectors. …”
