Example complaints

Electrical system: “The car spontaneously shut down. EV OFF displayed on the screen. I was in the middle of the road and unable to turn on the car or shift into neutral to push it off the road. I had to wait over an hour for a tow while in the road. This appears to be an increasing problem as many owners are reporting the same issue on the Nissan Ariya electric SUV Discussion Group page on Facebook.”

NHTSA complaint #11545004, filed 2023-09

Transmission and drivetrain: “Recently I been hearing a clicking noise every time I come to a complete stop and when I take off again. It started happening recently. After I hear the click noise coming from the middle of the front of my car, the wheel feels like it’s spinning just a little bit before coming to a stop.”

NHTSA complaint #11728901, filed 2026-04

Engine: “My Ariya 2023 died on middle of Interstate while I was on bridge during rush hour battery was at 54 % when this happened. I had the vehicle towed to a charging station thinking i ran out of charge but car didnt charge. After couple hours car started at 54% battery even though I was not able charge.”

NHTSA complaint #11558367, filed 2023-12

Vehicle speed control: “The car has a digital speedometer that can be switched from MPH to KPH through the settings (but it takes several steps) but one day my wife was driving and the units had switched and she didn't know so was not driving at the expected speed. I know of no shortcut to switch it quickly. I posted the question on an Ariya forum and at least 6 other owners said they experienced similar.”
