“While driving the truck will shut off just like the key was turned off. This happened one or two times a day over a ten day period, I swapped my old key with my wife's key and the problem went away. I took it to a Nissan dealership and they wanted to do $7000 of repairs and nothing about the key and ignition switch problem. So I have been using my wife's key for the past five days and no issues. Nissan claims they never had any problems like this although the internet shows a recall in 2010 for 2003-2006 frontiers for a very similar problem.”

NHTSA complaint #11091492, filed 2018-05, 139,000 miles

“We own a 2008 Nissan Frontier truck/ 4 wheel drive, 6cyl. The brakes are far too soft, and spongy, require far too much pedal travel to be safe or effective, or to be effectively used by anyone!! All Frontier models have this same problem. They need to be recalled/brake system corrected & made firmer, safer!”

NHTSA complaint #10273227, filed 2009-06, 50 miles

“Left rear axle seal failed and grease from axle coated caliper and brake disc, rendering braking ineffective on that wheel. This is a known issue with Nissan with a technical service bulletin (ntb100008) issued, but Nissan only selectively applies the repair. Grease coating the brake appears visually the same as brake dust, and owner's manual requires inspection of seals only every 7500 miles, so braking may be lost for a considerable period of time before discovery. …”

NHTSA complaint #10438943, filed 2011-12, 60,000 miles

“I have a 8 month old Frontier Nissan vehicle , with just 1 service on time everything - the failure I got a loose nut on the rear brake caliper - while I was driving downhill on a mountain with snow - lost all brake fluids and brake systems just went hard to work and not a uniform brake. To correct I went to dealer and they said they just re-torque the nut and that's it.”

NHTSA complaint #10252760, filed 2008-12

“the calipers in this kit have seized and been replaced (fronts 7/22,rears3/23) the front calipers have seized again 8/23. there is something wrong with these calipers and a potential for crash/injury situation, as a break components this reliability is unacceptable and potential dangerous. I feel this should be investigated before someone dies due to this/these products.”
