“0n 2002 Nissan Maxima excessive fuel filler tube rust cause fault -engine check soon light on. After clean-up this tube I visited dealership who erased fault and charged me $118.33. I think that this faulty part should be recaled, because can cause fire.”

NHTSA complaint #10322529, filed 2010-03, 96,549 miles

“Had a throttle body cleaning done on my car and as soon as I left the mechanic shop my engine light came on. I have since had to replace the throttle body and still my car will not relearn (and that was done at a Nissan dealer), now they say I need a new computer. I have also lost 75 miles a tank in gasoline sine the fuel system cleaner. The shop will not take responsibility, Nissan will not take responsibility, and the 3 step fuel system cleaner manufacturer will not take responsibility. …”

NHTSA complaint #10343368, filed 2010-07, 136,025 miles

“2002 Nissan Maxima. Two incidents of the electronic throttle control actuator failing. First failure in 2003 (odometer reading 10460) and another in 2009 (odometer reading 47199). When this unit fails, the vehicle may lose power as it happened to me in 2003 when I couldn't drive more than 15 MPH. Both times repaired by Nissan service department. I have repair paperwork if needed. I have contacted Nissan about the problem and they have set up a file number for my notification.”

NHTSA complaint #10294515, filed 2009-12, 47,199 miles

“When I first purchased this car I had immediate problems with the power steering fluid. The check engine light has remained on the entire time. But the car was hemorrhaging fluid, groaning, whining, and my steering was becoming extremely loose. I call the dealer that sold me the car, because I dropped 4 grand on what seemed like a nice vehicle with under 100k on it. Well, I bought the car right off the lot and they refused to repair it. Cool, I respect that. IF the inspection reports and other papers are clearly falsified. It couldn't have passed inspection under normal situations. …”

NHTSA complaint #11445236, filed 2021-12

“The contact stated while the accelerator pedal was depressed, the skip and check engine light illuminated. The vehicle became hard to steer and would not accelerate above 10 MPH. The vehicle was towed to the dealership. They replaced the gas level sensor, emission and fuel injector and flushed the brake lines. There have been no further problems. Updated 4/11/2006 -”
