“Adaptive cruise control and forward emergency braking (feb) system becomes spontaneously disabled during driving. This poses a serious issue when actually driving the car. The car is in motion when this happens. The system can only be reset by stopping the car, turning off the ignition and then re-starting the engine.”

NHTSA complaint #11143428, filed 2018-10, 10,000 miles

“The FEB system is braking when not necessary, causing potential serious damage/injury. The sensor is also affecting my ICC/cruise control. An orange light comes on while using cruise control and the cruise control stops/fails and will not reengage until I stop the vehicle and turn it off, then on again.”

NHTSA complaint #11585711, filed 2024-04

“The contact owns a 2016 Nissan Murano. The contact stated that while his wife was driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle experienced phantom braking. The failure resulted in another vehicle rear-ending his vehicle in a collision. The air bags did not deploy. The contact’s wife did not sustain any injuries and medical attention was not received. No police report was filed. The contact’s wife was able to drive away from the collision site. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, and the dealer informed the contact that they would reset the error code and clean the camera. …”

NHTSA complaint #11498018, filed 2022-12, 110,607 miles

“Forward Collision Warning lamp in dashboard lights up and cruise control is disabled. This consistently happens at 10.8 miles in the morning when the vehicle is driven for the first time of the day. If you shut the vehicle off then restart the vehicle it only goes a few miles before the Forward Collision Warning lamp lights up again and cruise control is disabled. This happens regardless of whether cruise control is in use, or if cruise control is not in use. …”
