“The entire brake pedal fell off my 2006 Nissan Pathfinder while driving. I had no way to stop vehicle - had to use emergency brake. Car was towed to dealership, and I was told the motor that runs the brake pedal died and it adjusted itself off completely.”
NHTSA complaint #10285787, filed 2009-09, 30,900 miles“When I purchased my 2006 Nissan Pathfinder from a dealer in 2012. Vehicle was inspected and deemed safe to drive. I noticed my tire pressure sensor stayed on all the time. Even after filling to the recommended PSI. Didn't think much of it. Went on to drive the vehicle with no issues until the next year when I would get this shaking and rumble at about 2500 RPM. Took it to a local mechanic and he couldn't find anything wrong except for needing new brake pads and engine tune up. Had that done but still my car continued to rumble when I would accelerate. …”
NHTSA complaint #10667390, filed 2014-12, 76,000 miles“On february 6, 2015having just stopped at a traffic light, my 2006 Pathfinder accelerated spontaneously. I applied more force to the brake pedal in an effort to stop the vehicle from colliding with the dump truck in front of me. As soon as the Pathfinder had almost stopped again, it accelerated spontaneously for a second time, but this time with more force. It took all I had to brake the car to a stop. Had I not allowed extra room between the dump truck in front of me and my truck, there would have been a collision. After the incident occurred, I took the truck to priority Nissan. …”
NHTSA complaint #10681944, filed 2015-02, 130,500 miles“Car began to make a knocking and whoom, whoom sound that got louder and louder. When I merged onto the highway (on my way to an unrelated Nissan service appt.) all of a sudden it felt as though I had a flat tire. Then I lost control of the car. I lost the use of my brakes and could not stop the vehicle. I managed to pull the car over to the side of the highway (on the left in the grassy median) and my left front wheel flew off my car. I still could not stop the car as my brakes had become disengaged when the wheel came loose. …”
NHTSA complaint #10435179, filed 2011-11, 126,000 miles“About a month ago my wife went to fill up our 2006 Pathfinder and when she finished the gas gauge showed only half fill. She went to another gas station tried to fill it up but it only took another dollar. The next day I called up Nissan who said it was the sending unit in the gas tank and would be apx $600 to fix. I saw other logs of xterras having this problem and there was a recall. Our car was just past the 3 year warranty. If this were the only problem with this car I'd pay to get it fixed. But I've had another but problems with this vehicle. …”
