Example complaints

Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

“My warranty ended at 80,000 and my transmission went out on me at 83,000. Warranty ended july 2020 but I was not notified of such information. I have purchased two vehicles from Nissan and I will not purchase another one due to this matter. B/c Nissan will not cover it and wants $6,500 to replace it with a use transmission. They have lost it.”

NHTSA complaint #11386930, filed 2021-01, 83,000 miles

“Increasing engine noise, heavy highway vibration (almost like unbalanced tires) and very choppy start-from-stop exceleration caused me to have the car looked at by a mechanic. Diagnosed as a transmission problem. Only option is to replace. I thought there was an earlier recall on this model for powertrain issues, but my car shows 0 unrepaired recall items”

NHTSA complaint #11301768, filed 2020-01, 133,200 miles

“Problem is intermittent while stopped. When pressing accelerator pedal while in drive engine does not respond. Engine RPM will go up once shifted to neutral, but not while in drive. Does not produce error codes, so no one knows how to fix. I have found a lot of other complaints of the same situation online, Nissan has not acknowledged this as a problem as far as I know.”

NHTSA complaint #10823085, filed 2016-01, 25,000 miles

“The car began jumping and jerking as it accelerated on both the interstate and city streets. I was certainly not in control. The tachometer kept accelerating and decelerating on its own. After I accelerated to above 45-50, it stopped jerking and became smooth again. Upon stopping at a stop light or sign, the vehicle was jerky and had trouble engaging and shifting. It was extremely dangerous.”

NHTSA complaint #11001901, filed 2017-06, 82,500 miles

“Just purchased this vehicle. Drove beautiful while test driving. The next morning the vehicle started her jerking so bad that I thought something was falling out from underneath the vehicle. I thought I was going to stall out in the middle of an intersection. Wondering how safe this vehicle really is when needing to transport children. Disgusted with the power I am finding.”
