Example complaints
Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.
“Backlighting on heating/AC/defrost controls began to work intermittently after 2 years and now ususally never works. Windshield wiper control began to work intermittently in 1998. When the car is cold, it takes several minutes before the wiper will turn on, and only if set on the fastest speed. Slow intermittent controls don't work at all. Cleaning fluid pump and wiper control works only intermittently.”
NHTSA complaint #713540, filed 1999-10“Ongoing problem with vehicle blowing fan erratic operation; whenever fan is used on the 3rd or 4th setting, the fan would cause the vehicle to vibrate and make a loud roaring noise. Dealer notified, and replaced fan on six occasions and condition still exists.”
NHTSA complaint #830211, filed 1998-11“When turning on turn signals and windshield wipers are on, windshield wipers will start going very fast, other times they will just stop. Also, tail lights blew out. Took vehicle to dealer numerous times for both problems, could not remedy situation. The rear tail light assembly was on recall a few years ago, but the consumer was not informed. The windshield wiper was covered under the extended bumper to pumper warranty, but the dealer could not solve the wiper problem. The consumer states without wipers working it was not safe to travel in this vehicle during the rainy season.”
