Example complaints

Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

“My car windshield no longer defrosts making visibility very poor. Heat does not work at all. Had the problem initially when the car was purchased but I thought the poor heat was due to a more environmentally friendly heating system. Heat has continued to get worse with every year of ownership and has not stopped working entirely. Dealer says the heater box is defect and does not allow air over heater core.”

NHTSA complaint #11270229, filed 2019-10, 55,000 miles

“I was driving to work on interstate 20, and all of a sudden I heard a loud sound like a gunshot, and I hear glass shattering. As I immediately pressed on my brakes to slow down, I noticed vehicles behind me slowing down due to glass flying in their direction. My heart was racing and I was so scared and uncertain of what really occurred. I immediately felt cold air in my vehicle as if I had downed a window. I pulled over and called my insurance company.”

NHTSA complaint #11067280, filed 2018-02, 85,000 miles

“During a cold season, there was fog and ice on the windshield and I turned on the defroster to clear it. The heating function of the defroster failed, and I could not clear the windshield or keep it clear as I drove.”

NHTSA complaint #11277492, filed 2019-11, 20,000 miles

“Air conditioning gets warm when set to cool. Causes problems with the defroster if trying to defrost windows from the hot air inside the car which affects visibility. I have read hundreds and hundreds of complaints from others about the exact same problem. Nissan corporate acknowledges the issue, but does not give a resolution, nor will put our a recall. Besides the inconvenience of not having cool air in 100+ degree weather, it makes it worse when you can't get the windows to unfog for clear visibility. …”

NHTSA complaint #11206523, filed 2019-05, 40,000 miles

“During a severe thunderstorm, I tried using the rear windshield wiper only to find out it was installed incorrectly and wipes backwards (downward towards my license plate).”

NHTSA complaint #11229420, filed 2019-07, 55,600 miles
