“20013 Nissan Sentra with less than 75k miles. Making a left turn and heard a loud pop. Left front ball joint broke off the lower control arm causing the control arm to smash through the tire rim and rip out the axle from the transmission. My vehicle was traveling at less than 5 MPH (thank god!) I would not have reported this but I saw the same thing happened to another car. I jacked it up immediately and car was flatbedded to mechanic and control arms on both sides, ball joints and axle was replaced.”

NHTSA complaint #11269048, filed 2019-10, 73,000 miles

“Transmission failed at 85,000. I started having problems gaining speed; then the car would start shaking, jerking and pausing. I was driving on highway 152 on my way to san jose, ca when my car started losing speed and shaking. I thought I was going to get stuck in the middle of the road. It was terrifying. I made it to work and started doing research about what my car was doing and find out it was the transmission. I took it to the dealer and they confirmed it was the transmission. Nissan tech. Told me to call Nissan USA, so I did. …”

NHTSA complaint #11142296, filed 2018-10, 85,000 miles

“I purchased four sumi tour plus lsw tires in october 2016. In october 2018, a bulge was discovered in one of the sidewalls. The company I bought the tires from suggested the tire must have been damaged by a pothole (even though I live in florida where there are few, if any, potholes.) in april 2020, another bulge was discovered in one of the three remaining original tires. Both bulges occurred with the tires having less than the 50,000 mile warranty. I contacted the tire manufacturer and was told the bulges were impact bubbles, which is not a defect, but a road hazard. …”

NHTSA complaint #11323977, filed 2020-05, 102,750 miles

“While applying the brake pedal decelerating the car, the car suddenly had a very loud grinding noise on the rear passenger wheel, like the brake rotor grinding against some metal parts that broke loose inside. After stopping the car inspecting passenger rear wheel and found nothing, I got back to the car slowly accelerating it. The loud grinding noise got worse and I felt the brake pedal kinda light (like not all 4 brakes are being applied). I suspect the brake shoes or components broke apart inside the brake drum of the rear wheel (passenger side). …”

NHTSA complaint #10514717, filed 2013-06, 9,289 miles

“While in motion the passenger side ball joint did break. This allowed the wheel to become non responsive and caused the drive axle to break. If the vehicle was going at highway speed at the time, there would have been a severe accident to say the least.”

NHTSA complaint #11315844, filed 2020-03, 90,000 miles
