1991: “I purchased two new nankang tires for the front wheels on my 1991 Nissan Stanza on 8/11/05. On 8/16/05 while driving toward washington on oregon I-84, the left front tire experienced a blowout of the sidewall, causing the car to climb the center divider. I managed to bring the car under control without rolling, but I injured my back and leg in the process.”

NHTSA complaint #10135052, filed 2005-09, 197,281 miles

1992: “2 fuel injectors leaking gas onto engine. I have checked and there are at least 30 similar complaints on 1990 - 1992 Nissan stanzas. What does it take to initiate a recal. Several of these have resulted in fires. The dealer would not tell me if any other models use the same injector, or I would have checked them as well. This is a very volitile safety issue with gasoline leaking on a hot engine. I think something should be done.”

NHTSA complaint #711947, filed 1999-09

1990: “I have a 1990 Nissan Stanza, which has leaking fuel injectors resulting in a strong gas odor in the car. In reviewing the Nissan vehicle owners failed component information on-line, I discovered that others have reported this same problem at about the same mileage that I experienced it-- 85,000 miles. Does Nissan plan to recall these vehicles. If not, what do you plan to do about what looks like a structural problem. I look forward to hearing from you. Joan crichlow”
