“I noticed that something was wrong with feel of right front wheel so took vehicle in for oil change and tire rotation and asked service to check on that wheel issue. He called me in to see that the right front suspension spring had totally cracked and broken off and had been rubbing on the inside of the tire creating a deep groove in the rubber. It was worn through and close to puncturing and could not even be driven to a dealer. This vehicle has under 37000 miles on it and has been totally maintained and not driven on any poor road surfaces. …”
NHTSA complaint #10669949, filed 2015-01, 36,700 miles“I was driving my 2010 Nissan Versa to work on march 12, 2013 when I heard a grinding sound coming from my front driver side tire area. I wasn't far from work so I drove there and called my mechanic. He picked up my car and found that a coil spring had broke. He told me it needed to be replaced but that he would suggest that I replace the struts and coil springs on both tires. He got the parts in the next day and fixed it all for me. About a week ago I read about a possible defect that is under investigation for coil springs braking and slicing tires on the Nissan Versa's. …”
NHTSA complaint #10721288, filed 2015-05, 47,740 miles“This is a 2010 Nissan Versa. I bought the car brand new. Has 35k miles on it. Already replaced transmission in 2013. Have had numerous tire issues that the mechanics can't seem to figure out, when I take it to the dealer, they want to charge high dollars and the issue still exists. Today while backing straight out of my driveway I heard a huge bang followed by the car not moving forward or backwards. My neighbor came out and informed me that the ball joint on the right front passenger side had snapped. He also indicated that this shouldn't happen to a car from 2010 and with such low mileage. …”
NHTSA complaint #10860947, filed 2016-04, 35,000 miles“I was making a right turn when I hear a snap and then passenger tire gets popped and deflates. At an intersection going 10 to 15 MPH. It turns out my front spring on the passenger side collapsed and has snapped a peice of spring into my tires blowing it. I haven't driven this car for long, and drive quite safely. I since had to purchase new fires and now stuck with my springs still collapsed. Should this incident have happened while driving highway, there would most likely be a case of an accident and risk of injury as the incident happened quite suddenly, luckily I wasn't at high speeds. …”
NHTSA complaint #10733624, filed 2015-07, 54,400 miles“Steering wheel would move but the wheels would not the breaks don't work even if replaced. Car is totaled now.just because it's there anyone would move but the tires wouldn't nothing else was wrong with the car. The breaks are new. It is like the care just shut down.”
