“Approximately 2 months after I purchased my 2011 Nissan Versa I noticed a knocking sound under the hood. It almost sounded as though the car was low of oil but this wasn't the case. I took it to the Nissan dealership and was told that the valves or valve sleeves were cut too long during the machining process of the motor and they were tapping against the bottom of the motor . He explained to me that this should not cause any problems, however... …”

“Brought the car in august 2011. At every service I would report of knocking noise as if the car was in need of oil. I was repeatedly told that there is/was nothing wrong with the car. Again in august 2012; I complained about the noise one of the new tech's looked at the car and it was determined that my engine was gone and they needed to replace it which they did do. The only thing I have to ask should the warranty start over?”

“First the engine oil light does not work. This car burns oil quickly. Due to this I had been running my car with low oil. Which resulted with a piston popping out and it is requested I replace my engine.”

“My husband purchased the Nissan Versa 4hb 2011 brand new. A few months back while driving on the texas freeways 70 MPH...the check engine light came on and the vehicle shut down and I lost power and speed, this was frightening and very dangerous....we took the vehicle to the dealership and was told the throttle body need to be replaced: price, over $1000.00...our personal mechanic was able to do the job but unfortunately it was short lived and happened again. …”

NHTSA complaint #10520571, filed 2013-06, 70,000 miles

“The service engine light began to go on and off as well as a knocking sound had developed. We had our son, who had attended school to become a mechanic, checked it looking at the oil level. The oil was about a quart low and he advised us to take it to carmax where we had purchased the car. After two diagnostic tests and an oil change at $140.00, my husband was told that it needed a new engine. It is burning oil and is being emitted out the exhaust and has excessive engine blow by. …”
