“We had leased this vehicle from hertz earlier in the day. That evening, I was driving down a hill and the vehicle's steering system had suddenly locked up. I was not able to steer and drove into a tree at a high rate of speed. My passenger and I both suffered significant bodily injuries and were taken to a hospital via ambulance.”
NHTSA complaint #11140381, filed 2018-10, 3,298 miles“I was stopped at a stop sign (about to get on the highway) and my car just shut off. No signs that it was going to do this, no spuddering or acting like it was going to die. Just shut of. I have read on forums that other Nissan Versa owners have had the same issue. Some while driving down the road. I live 64 miles from my job. Its a very dangerous situation for me if my car does that while I'm driving.”
NHTSA complaint #11301667, filed 2020-01, 42,000 miles“I was performing a monthly inspection underneath my 2018 Nissan Versa in august 2018 to insure there was not any visible leaks. Upon my inspection I observed what appeared to be a small amount of oil located on the area where the engine meets the transmission. I brought the car to the dealership where I purchased the vehicle on 8-30-2018. Upon their inspection the service department stated it was normal for this area to seep / leak oil even on new cars. …”
NHTSA complaint #11130038, filed 2018-09, 7,200 miles“The vehicle will stop at any given moment. The vehicle stopped while almost entering the highway. Then when turned off and tried turning back on the engine wouldn't turn over. The problem auto repair shop is saying that there is no communication with the engine.”
NHTSA complaint #11366185, filed 2020-10, 51,000 miles“Purchased New in January, 2019, with 10-20 miles on it. In February/March of 2020 it started lurching forward, giving rough idles. It would rumble, and you could hear the engine move around. This reported to Nissan dealership, the Tech. could not find code, simply reset computer. In 2021, I took it back to dealership of purchase, they could not diagnose any problems, they claimed to repair some component in rear break light area. The Service Advisor never sent the completed paperwork to my email. I asked for a copy on site, but he had to review papers . …”
