“My 2007 Nissan Xterra began to experience a rumble strip like affect apparently due to a defect in the radiator having a leak into the transmission and causing a transmission to begin to fail. This seems to be a common problem and should be a recall on nissans part I was forced to pay 3000 dollars for a co-pay to fix this problem and it seems this should be a recall as it is a known defect.”

NHTSA complaint #10502415, filed 2013-03, 92,161 miles

“I bought my 07 Xterra 6 months ago from transitowne amherst and the dealership told me nothing was wrong with the vehicle. Now 6 months down the road the transmission has gone terminal due to the known problem where coolant leaks into the transmission and causes it to fail. I believe any dealership should have checked to make sure that a vehicle they were selling would not have this issue before they sell it.”

NHTSA complaint #10664061, filed 2014-12, 118,543 miles

“My car 2007 Nissan Xterra started to make a revving noise under the hood on sunday 10/2/2011. The next day I was on the highway on my way home from work when the check engine light came on. I cautiously drove the min speed limit to the mid-city Nissan dealership which was less than 2 miles away at this point. The next day, mid-city Nissan informed me that I needed the timing chain repaired asap. …”

NHTSA complaint #10430263, filed 2011-10, 45,000 miles

“My transmission starting slipping. The problem was that the radiator cracked and allowed anti-freeze to leak into the transmission. Our winters are very snowy, icy and cold leaving me without heat and in a dangerous situation in wintry conditions.”

NHTSA complaint #10501154, filed 2013-03, 87,700 miles

“The radiator fluid and transmission fluid have some how mixed together cause damage to both my radiator and transmission. I purchase my Xterra brand new in 2007 and kept up with the maintenance. I have read several articles and even received a letter about a class action lawsuit. But at the time no symptoms were showing on my vehicle. So upset that this is not a recall!!! I am a single mom and this was my only means of transportation. Now it just sits in my yard. Frustrating!!!”
