“Brakes have been pulsing a lot to the point that the car does not break well. Took it in to have it fixed and was told that both front rotors and bearings would have to be replaced. Told that this is a common problem with this car. Cost me over $1000 for this repair.”

NHTSA complaint #10093875, filed 2004-10, 24,000 miles

“Front stabilizer bar broke completely through near passenger side mount without prior audible notice. Area of tube broken is approximately where the tube begins to flatten out for mounting to control arm. No prior accident or unusual stress has happened to this vehicle. It appears that it has slowly been worked until it comp-letely cracked through, and then there was a very audible banging noise during normal operation of the vehicle on city streets.”

NHTSA complaint #10064019, filed 2004-03, 91,158 miles

“In minor sideway skid, rr lower control arm bars (2), bent like they were made of coat hangars. Car only has 12000 miles on it, 1999 olds Intrigue, garage kept. Car flipped on to right side when control arm bars bent, causing vehicle to roll over on to side. Son matthew injured. This may be all w bodies in GM line. Cheapened system, new standards are needed to prevent vehicle roll over in minor skid. Son was not speeding at time of accident. After owning 38 GM cars, this disgusts me.”

NHTSA complaint #10058653, filed 2004-02, 12,000 miles

“Power steering assist (rack/pinion-long shaft) unit second failure. The right rear weather strip was deformed, engine stalled shortly after starting, pulsating noise coming from the front end, tire noise, right rear window inoperative, clunking noise in the front end when turning, the battery light had come on for 20 minutes but the problem but was actually coolant light, the engine would crank but no start, the vehicle would run rough and dies, failed ignition switch, failed crankshaft sensor, remote was not working, lost power steering on a left turn and still had power on right turns…”

NHTSA complaint #10101807, filed 2004-11, 3,589 miles

“The contact owns a 1999 Oldsmobile Intrigue. The contact stated that while driving 55 MPH, the alignment failed while the traction control, check engine and avs warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis where it was advised that the wheel sensor and bearings needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 116,000.”
