“We have had six windows fail on our 1999 olds Intrigue. Gm replaced three under warranty, but refuses to repair or pay for repairs to the windows that have failed since the car accumulated over the 36,000 mile warranty. We paid for one repair ourselves but refuse to pay for the two remaining non-functioning windows. We purchased the car new in dec of 1999. The only response that we've gotten from GM is that we should take it to a GM dealership and have it diagnosed at our expense. It should be noted that two of the currently failed windows are ones that they've already replaced under warranty. …”
NHTSA complaint #10014292, filed 2003-04, 24,254 miles“Within 30 days, three of the four power windows have failed. Estimates on each window is between $370.00 and $400.00 dollars. I can see one window failing, but three within 30 days is a statistical impossibility. Am awaiting word from GM, Oldsmobile and the district service manager to see what, if anything, they are going to do.”
NHTSA complaint #10069121, filed 2004-01, 92,000 miles“(1) opening and closing the door; (2) door will not open or shut due to the frame/metal to which the driver's door hinge mounts to flexing causeing the door to be misaligned with the latch. After trying to shut the door the driver's window fell down and will not roll up or down with the controls... (3) at the moment the window is held up with a pair of vice grips until I can afford to replace the whole door...”
NHTSA complaint #10172024, filed 2006-10, 95,000 miles“The window had fallen into the door on the drivers side front, back and passenger door with no warning. On one occasion, while the consumer was driving on the highway with her granddaughter in the passenger seat, the window had fallen into the door. The dealer stated that this was a common problem. When the power window no longer worked, it would fall into the door.”
NHTSA complaint #10038062, filed 2003-11, 9,600 miles“While car was still under warranty, drivers front and passengers back electric windows failed and were replaced. Car is owned by single adult, no children, windows are not abused....within past 6 months drivers front, drivers back, and passengers front electric windows have all failed. Plastic clip that holds the cable has broken on all three windows...cable winds inside of motor making it necessary to replace regulator and motor.”
