“Axle was replaced 3 times-now it's making noise again. Technician checked and found trans/ differential problem. Looseness in differential section of trans caused problem w/axle. Also recommend replacing transmission and motor mounts. Too much play is causing stress on axle.”
NHTSA complaint #10005705, filed 2003-02, 145,943 miles“I have had my ABS system replaced 3 times. This time the pedal does not come up properly to shut off the brake lights, and let cruise control to work properly. I feel that this has also caused my front rotors to warp. I contacted the dealer ship and was told that there is a return spring that needs to be added. Service bulletin 05-08-92 rer system of the car if the brake light is on. Is the transmission able to function properly or is this what caused my transmisson to go out.”
NHTSA complaint #705171, filed 1999-04“I have had 4 transmissions replaced to date all of which failed and am on number 5! All replacements have been factory rebuilt units. I have had to replace the last two within the last 45 days. This is totally unacceptable and I feel that chrysler should stand behind their products. I paid $ 911.00 for the 7/70 added service protection package when I purchased the vehicle which covered the first replacement. I have paid for the rest but this design defect should be the responsibility of chrysler and they should pick up the expense.”
NHTSA complaint #712654, filed 1999-10“The transmission on the chrysler has failed three times. The first time was with 22k , chrysler replaced it under warranty. The second time was with approximately 78,000 miles, chrysler paid for the parts, I paid for the labor. The most recent time was 5/11/00 with 119,000 miles. My problem is that it seems every one that I speak to with a chrysler mini- van appears to have transmission failures. This will be my fourth transmission in eihgt years. This is a chronic problem with all of chrysler's mini vans and the NHTSA should address it. Thank you.”
NHTSA complaint #722593, filed 2000-05“Fire in the engine compartment of this vehicle, destroyed vehicle. The car lost power on the freeway off-ramp. Vehicle pulled over and another driver pulled over to say the car was on fire up underneath. I saw this same style mini-van on the television program cops on 1/9/99 on fire and burning after having transmission problems. We have had to put in two transmissions in this vehicle. The fireman didn't think the transmission problem was related to the problem howeverthe lady on the tv show stated she had been having transmission trouble.”
