“The strut tower is rusting very bad and about to break off. This is a very big danger for my wife and four kids.. I first notice the rust 2 weeks after we bought this 1998 Plymouth Voyager, and the dealer would not fix it. It been 3.5 years know and there are holes we can see though. Not very good. I also noticed the van is about 1/2 lower to the ground from the side the rust is bad. The only had 62,000 mile ib it when we noticed the rust. There should be a recall. Shops told me every 1998 Plymouth Voyager they see has got the same problem.”

“The heat changes from hot to A/C by itself, the rear defrost don't work all the time, the back wipers go on by then self with different delays,,, , stays on defrost, and the strut tower are very poor shape, never saw strut towers rust like this on any other van or car but this one..1998 Plymouth Voyager...also all this stuff wrong with it and the check engine like don't go on...very bad van to have.”

NHTSA complaint #10329783, filed 2010-05, 68,000 miles

“1989 Plymouth Voyager left and right front towers are consumed by corrosion exposing the mcpherson strut assemblies and severely weakening the load bearing structure causing serious risk of strut tower failure as on or both struts will penetrate into the engine compartment causing the front of the vehicle to drop to the ground. Should such failure occur while the vehicle is in motion at highways speeds, loss of vehicle control will result, causing serious injury or death. …”

NHTSA complaint #10402633, filed 2011-05, 140,000 miles

“1998 Plymouth minivan. Structure rusted through on left front strut tower. The problem was caught when there was approx. 90% rust through. A pothole hit or just severe braking could have had catastrophic results. Chrysler advises that they will do nothing but say sorry. Is this a chronic problem ??”

NHTSA complaint #10149439, filed 2006-02, 162,000 miles

“The consumer took vehicle for inspection, and it was discovered that the frame spring bolt attached to the tire has completely rusted and did not pass inspection. The manufacturer stated that weather has caused the defects.”
