“I have started to experience sudden acceleration issues. The car, when you are attempting to pull into a parking spot or garage, will seem to accelerate, sensors beeping. I have jumped curbs and even crashed into bikes in my garage. The car has had a slew of issues (engine propulsion, losing power), and I have had it at the dealer 4 times. Polestar stopped communicating with me when I let them know this happened. I have read others online claiming the same thing. I had had others witness this happening”

NHTSA complaint #11590284, filed 2024-05

“Safety complaint description In August 2026, I experienced a potentially dangerous incident involving my 2023 Polestar 2 AWD Performance while performing a U-turn. During the maneuver, the vehicle unexpectedly stopped or hesitated and did not move forward when I expected it to, leaving me exposed in the roadway and creating a risk of a collision with approaching traffic. I do not know what caused this behavior. I am concerned that it may involve an unexpected interruption of vehicle propulsion, a driver-assistance system or another electronic or mechanical malfunction. …”

NHTSA complaint #11766117, filed 2026-09

“Starting in 2022 the car started to black out when I drove it. The spedeometer and screen would go completely dark, especially at speeds over 60 MPH I reported this to Polestar in 2023, they incorrectly diagnosed it as a TPMS warning when I brought it to the dealer. I called Polestar back in July 2023, but a nearby dealer was 7 hours away. I brought the car into the dealer March 2024, they had it for several days, didn't detect a problem and sent me home w car. It did it again, I was able to capture this footage on video, they then took the car back again and finally believed me. …”

NHTSA complaint #11590285, filed 2024-05

“The vehicle was driven to a shopping mart in my locality for less than 10 miles. When we got out of the vehicle it started showing all sorts of errors like Propulsion system failure, Parking Brakes unavailable, Breaking system not available. The car was taken to Polestar Austin and after keeping the vehicle for 15 days they informed me that they can't find the issue hence have only done a SW update. They suspected a DashCam connected to the camera WILL DEFINATELY cause propulsion and brake failure. The EV reached a temperature of about 161F and was frantically trying to cool itself.”
