“On my way to work (2nd shift) in rush hour traffic as I was preparing to merge onto the highway the car simply shut-off blocking traffic. (I was eventually - 20 minutes - able to get help to push the car off the road.) everything shut off and car would not restart....everything including the power-steering. This has happened one other time and the vehicle is now nothing more then a two-ton paperweight in my garage - and about as useful. …”
NHTSA complaint #10542855, filed 2013-09, 118,947 miles“My 2001 Grand Am se hit around 98,000 kms and has been revving at 2,500 to 3,000 rpms while idling and while driving over revs and you need two feet on the brake. Have replaced intake manifold, one sensor, one valve, and $1,000 later my car still does the same. This is not safe while transporting children and with winter coming it should make for a scary ride.”
NHTSA complaint #10200412, filed 2007-08, 98,000 miles“Went to get in my car at the store and the security light was on and car wouldn't start had to have it towed across town. Then I read that it is a common problem with these vehicles. Now I hear GM is recalling for ignition switch. Which is what is wrong with my vehicle. Im afraid it will happen while im driving. Lets hope not. Went to the GM web page they said it wasn't recalled and then I see it on a recall list. I guess I need to pursue this a little more to get the problem solved.”
NHTSA complaint #10607575, filed 2014-07, 160,000 miles“This is my procedure of start engine. Turn on the key, I can see the sign of security. Wait 10minutes until lights off. Turn off the key and start the engine. That is too annoying me. I already towed my car 3 times and replace the fuel pump. It costs $500. Is that not serious? Recently it occurs too often!!!”
NHTSA complaint #10230402, filed 2008-06, 56,000 miles“My 2001 Pontiac Grand Am acts like it is out of gas and the solution is to wait for 10 minutes with the ignition in the on position for 10 minutes and the security is bypassed and then the car can be started. Gm doesn't know why and has no fix. I had it towed the first time not knowing fuel pump, what?”
