“Water leaked into floorboard from air-conditioner. Grinding noise coming from the front and back wheels. Trim came loose from back bumper. Rearview mirror fell off. Had numerous times where the car would crank but not start (dealership could not duplicate problem) front driver window would not come down on occasion. Car caught fire under the dashboard while parked in our garage. The fire did extensive damage to the interior of the car. The inspector sent out to look at the car (by GM) said the fire was electrical and not caused by anything we did to the car. …”

“Front end noise.bought car used. 2001 Pontiac Grand Am gt with 28990 mi. At time of purchase. Have 36450 mi. Now. Have brought back to dealer 4 times since buying for same noise. Finally told on last visit that it is the tires.first incident in 5/2003.now told I have to buy new tires to get rid of noise.ridiculous since they knew of problem and did nothing to make me aware of this at time of purchase.have service bulletin and have read many complaints along same line for this car.don't plan on spending a dime on tires as it is their defect in matching tires to rims.”

NHTSA complaint #10058147, filed 2004-02, 29,300 miles

“I have had both of my front wheel bearings go bad on my 2001 Pontiac Grand Am, within 50,000 miles. I can't seem to make GM or my attorney general understand that sealed wheel bearings are not a routine maintenance item. They tell me there is no recall and since my warranty is over they will not address this situation. I'm told there is no recall on these parts. One would think that this could be a coincidence, but I find out that the small parts store I use in northern michigan, has this bearing in stock. I'm told that this bearing also fits the alero, and malibu. …”

NHTSA complaint #10028511, filed 2003-07, 44,000 miles

“Driver's side wheel made a whopping sound at any speed. While driving over 65 MPH there was vibration throughout the vehicle. Vehicle was taken to dealer five times for this problem, but dealer could not resolve the problem.”

NHTSA complaint #10049929, filed 2003-12, 350 miles

“While driving, a loud scrap noise was heard coming from the front. The consumer was able to drive the vehicle to the dealer for an inspection. The mechanic informed the consumer that the noise could not be duplicated, but the brakes and rotors needed replacing. The mechanic replaced the brakes and rotors, but the problem still continued. The problem has not been resolved. Please fill in additional information. The noise only happened at speeds of 30 MPH. The dealer stated the tires were the problem”
