“I have had 2 tires spontaneously fail in last two weeks. The first was on the highway and caused 2200 dollars in damage to the vehicle and almost causing a wreck. The second blew out while I was in my driveway traveling at less than 5mph. Both tires appeared to fail in the same way, perpendicular to the sidewalk across the tread.”

NHTSA complaint #10957855, filed 2017-03, 19,600 miles

“Driving on a flat asphalt road at 40 MPH right rear tire blew. I was able to pull to shoulder and look at tire. The tire was opened up sidewall to sidewalk.tire has 25000 miles. I didn't run over anything and the roads were normal.tempeture was 40 and roads were dry. Not good tires. Goodyear sra 275 r 60 20”

NHTSA complaint #10937152, filed 2016-12, 25,000 miles

“I was driving on I 90 in indiana. It was raining and the road was straight. The service ABS light came on. A short time later, I heard a noise and slowed down to 50. Then the front right tire exploded. The tire was relatively new (past july]) with lots of tread. I pulled on to the shoulder and got out to see the brake glowing red hot and smoking. I believe the noise I heard before the explosion was the cv joint disintegrating. Traffic was flying past at 70 to 80 MPH. I was in 2 wheel drive. The truck is a 4x4.”

NHTSA complaint #11387881, filed 2021-01, 141,000 miles

“My truck has a noticable vibration at highway speeds of 60 MPH and above. After 3-4 trips to different dealerships, the problem still exists. After a quick search online, I realized that thousands of complaints have been posted on blogs related to this same problem with no solution from chrysler/Ram. I have had the tires balanced/rotated/road forced balance, etc. Front drive shafts replaced (it's a 4x4 model) and still the same result ... Vibration at highway speeds. …”

NHTSA complaint #10986386, filed 2017-05, 100 miles

“Front steer tire blowout. Driving in the city. After the blowout, I had to put on the temp spare. I noticed soft spots all over the tire. Where the blowout happened was also a soft spot. I would not be so concerned, but these tires had less than 26,000 miles on them and were what came from the factory when I purchased the truck brand new. They were made by goodyear. I went and had all 4 tires replaced due to the safety concerns for myself and my family. Looking at the tires, they are severely underrated for the Ram 1500 ecodiesel.”
