Example complaints

Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

“While driving down a straight road going approximately 20 mph my truck pulled me hard to the left and I was unable to control it. The assembly for my front left wheel completely came apart, and my truck was stranded in the middle of the road, without me being able to move it forward or backwards. The dealer stated that the ball joints to the upper and lower control arms both popped out at the same time. The dealer stated that they were unsure why this happened, and that there was no damage or wear to the ball joints. …”

NHTSA complaint #11551575, filed 2023-10

“The vehicle’s wheel, brake, suspension, and electrical systems have all failed since June 2022. The wheel and suspension systems have been attempted to be repaired multiple times by two different Chrysler Dodge dealerships. To no avail, no resolve. In fact while I was driving the highway after picking up the vehicle this last time, the tailgate opened and triggered the backup camera emergency brakes. We stopped instantly in the middle of the highway. We didn’t hear or know about a recall until three weeks later when we got a letter in the mail. …”

NHTSA complaint #11504160, filed 2023-01

“The factory spare tire lowering system port does not work with the factory provided jack tools as the manual states. The tools do not connect and therefore the spare tire cannot be lowered. There are other similar reports online for this generation of ram vehicles. This would be a safety issue had I discovered this on the highway following a flat tire.”

NHTSA complaint #11699555, filed 2025-11

“The contact owns a 2022 Ram 1500. The contact stated that while driving 45 MPH, there was a shimmy coming from the vehicle. The contact pulled into a parking lot, and the front passenger’s side tire, rim, brake assembly, and ball joint suddenly detached from the vehicle. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer, and it was confirmed that there was no warranty coverage on the vehicle for the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was approximately 29,000.”
