“While towing a (new) travel trailer, the trailer brakes stop working intermittently. The local RAM dealer could not find any problems. A DTC code C10C7-19 was discovered with no way to repair according to the Ram dealer. I contacted the RV dealer about this problem. They said they have never seen this problem. Test were made on the electrical brake system, All wiring and brakes checked OK. I do not feel safe towing not knowing if my brakes will work or not.”
NHTSA complaint #11685035, filed 2025-09“We own a RAM 2500 truck with an Integrate Brake Controller that is used to activate the trailer brakes on our 10,000+ lb 5th wheel RV. On our last rv trip, the Brake Controller test was not producing the necessary braking function on the trailer (putting more stress upon the trucks braking system). We became acutely aware of this as we attempted to stop on a downhill grade (highway exit ramp) where the traffic control switched to Red. We were barely able to stop in time, which had not happed in the past. …”
NHTSA complaint #11649906, filed 2025-03“My truck was started in the morning and as it sat idle in the driveway I started attaching my trailer. By the time I got the trailer attached(20 seconds) there was smoke pouring out from under the hood. I immediately turned off the truck popped the hood and it was engulfed in flames. I was able to put out the fire with the garden hose. No check engine lights, no warning lights on dash, and I had just got it back from the dealership 2 days earlier and it passed a safety inspection before I picked it up. Im not sure what component failed but whatever did caused a fire”
NHTSA complaint #11733784, filed 2026-04“1. Complete Brake Failure. No warning lights came on. There is no emergency warning system for Brake Failure. This could have been catastrophic. This could have turned deadly if we were driving on the highway with no warnings Dec 15, 2024 I drove the truck during the day on the highway and made various stops for Christmas Shopping. I went for dinner with my Family. After dinner climbed into the truck and depressed the break and started the truck. Once the truck started the break pedal could be pushed to the back floorboards. I know this was not right. …”
NHTSA complaint #11630887, filed 2024-12“I was notified of the Particulate Matter (PM) Sensor not being installed in the exhaust aftertreatment system of my vehicle on a post delivery survey I received. The dealership's service department has no idea about this sensor not being installed by the factory, and the response from the letter stated there would be a recall soon to have the PM sensor installed, but that has not happened over a year later. The ECU will need an update once the sensor is installed, which would allow the Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) gauge to function. …”
