“Recent interaction with a driver alongside my vehicle. Driver begin merging into my lane. Used horn as well as decelerating to prevent collision. It appears horn was unheard by other driver. Believe the fact the horn is mounted very low on my vehicle and ducted in a way that it is not sufficiently loud to alert other drivers and prevent accidents Other posts on the Rivian forum note other Rivian drivers experiencing same issue with horn volume.”

“I was driving with items in the truck bed, including a cooler. There was wind noise, which I initially attributed to the items in the back, but it seemed to be getting louder. The truck didn't feel right. As I was traveling approximately 70 mph (with cruise control engaged), it felt like regenerative braking was occurring. There were no warnings or warning lights. I decided to exit the highway to check things out. As I slowed down, the truck decelerated much more abruptly than normal. I pulled onto the shoulder and got out. …”

“Our rear passenger interior door handle stopped working today. We were unable to open the door from the inside of the car. I messaged Rivian support and we tried a software reset and checked to make sure the the child safety lock wasn’t on. Neither worked so I have scheduled a mobile service appointment for 2/11/2025. Checked inside the door panel and part of the door pull was broken off and loose inside the door. It looks like the cable barrel for the door release could have been anchored there a that was the point of failure.”

NHTSA complaint #11640110, filed 2025-02

“We purchased our Rivian two weeks ago today from a private seller, and Rivian will not transfer ownership of the truck to us despite multiple calls, emails, and online chats. This is a safety, security, and privacy issue. There is a major recall that I cannot get fixed because Rivian will not transfer ownership of the vehicle from the previous owner to us. The previous owners have access to the vehicle, being able to disable our keys, and could access our vehicle at any point should they so desire. …”

NHTSA complaint #11526327, filed 2023-06

“I have had a late model 2022 Rivian R1T since July of 2024. It had ~1500 miles on it, but has needed 12 services in just two years. This includes having to have the 12v batteries (2) replaced 11/2024 at ~6,000 total miles driven and again just 21 months later at 25,000 miles. Rivian would not replace the batteries this most recent time claiming they are not warranted since they were replacements and the vehicle is more than 3 years old. they did give me one of the 2 batteries for free most recently, but I still paid $542. It would have been ~$800. I requested to speak to a manager about it. …”
