“2000 Suzuki Intruder vl 1500 lc pops out of 4th gear and goes into a false neutral. Every time I ride about every 3rd or 4th time I shift to 4th gear. This became a problem about 4000mi and continued to worsen . There is 13000mi on the bike now. When accelerating on an entrance ramp to a highway it will pop out of 4th gear causing the engine to rev very high, cause instability, and loose speed. This is a very dangerous situation when trying to merge with traffic.”
NHTSA complaint #10025611, filed 2003-07, 4,000 miles“I purchased a Suzuki 1500 Intruder, with 2500 miles, inmay, from the original owner. It has popped out of 4th gear numerous times, under moderate to hard acceleration, as in, entering an freeway, on the ramp, trying to get up to speed to merge. Also extremely dangerous when passing a vehicle on a 2-lane divided highway(country road). I hope the engine hasn't been hurt, by being overeved. If you drive a car, can you imagine flooring it to get on the freeway, then having someone shift it into neutral!!! Not good! I manage an automotive transmission shop, so I have knowledge of how it works etc. …”
