Example complaints

Transmission and drivetrain: “2000 Suzuki Intruder vl 1500 lc pops out of 4th gear and goes into a false neutral. Every time I ride about every 3rd or 4th time I shift to 4th gear. This became a problem about 4000mi and continued to worsen . There is 13000mi on the bike now. When accelerating on an entrance ramp to a highway it will pop out of 4th gear causing the engine to rev very high, cause instability, and loose speed. This is a very dangerous situation when trying to merge with traffic.”

NHTSA complaint #10025611, filed 2003-07, 4,000 miles

Fuel system: “The fuel tank under the seat cracked and leaked. The crack is always located on the upper right mount area. It's a small hairline crack at first and difficult to see. The problem is well documented on the lc/c90 delphi forum. Fuel runs out of the tank causing a potential fire problem. I used jb weld to correct the problem. Other had have had a new tank installed which can crack too. This is a very common problem with Intruder 1500 lc's.”

NHTSA complaint #10098819, filed 2004-11, 20,000 miles

Brakes: “While driving at any speed consumer heard a loud squeaking noise. Consumer applied the brake pedal and the brakes failed. Consumer was able to maintain control of the vehicle, and pulled over. Vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection, and mechanic determined that the brakes needed to be replaced, and replaced them twice. However, the problem recurred.”

NHTSA complaint #10095023, filed 2004-10, 5,000 miles

Engine cooling: “A recall notice(nc99-04) regarding the clutch back torque was received. The dealer informed the consumer that the motorcycle's vehicle identification number was not included. Please fill in additional information.”
