“Front seat-belts fixed to wall of car (not 3 position for driver height). For anyone 5'5'' or less this puts the belt against the side of throat, meaning instant death in bad collision. Have to manually move it over to shoulder blade every 5 minutes while driving. Car recently totaled. I would be dead if had not moved belt away from neck 3 minutes earlier. Tesla says they tested it in short people...but obviously not with cars in motion. Multiple concerns on the internet. Tesla ignored my complaints. They have fixed it on their new 2016 model with gull-wings....3 positions like most cars. …”
NHTSA complaint #10909416, filed 2016-09, 1,200 miles“Driving down the freeway at maximum speed limit (65) needed to remove wallet from back pocket. Unbuckled seat belt why still moving at maximum speed limit. Upon unbuckling seat belt engine immediate shut off and vehicle came to involuntary stop within approximately 5 seconds. Fortunately, the vehicle following was alert and stopped in time to avoid serious rear end accident. Very concerning if this occurs and owners are not notified of the danger we experienced.”
