“On July 22, 2025, at about 6:30 PM in a western suburb of Illinois, on a hot, humid, sunny evening after my car had sat in direct sun all day, my 2022 Tesla Model Y Long Range (Dual Motor AWD) suffered a total electrical failure. As I walked up, the car unlocked automatically with my phone key as usual. I placed my dog in the back seat, closed that door, and immediately tried to open the driver’s/front door—but it would not open. The phone key failed, and the backup key card at the B-pillar also failed to unlock the car. …”

NHTSA complaint #11694211, filed 2025-10, 42,678 miles

“I was driving on the highway and the frunk came off breaking the front shield. The frunk was still showing as closed on the computer, but the screws came off releasing the frunk. Luckily I was able to react appropriately and move the car to the shoulder of the highway but the incident could’ve caused death. Visibility was zero as the front shield was obstructed by the open frunk”

NHTSA complaint #11531131, filed 2023-07

“I feel Tesla is building cars with non-standard parts and structural issues. 1.I bought a new car and started hearing brakes noises from 6000 miles where as previous car brakes rotors were good till 70k miles. 2.Within 9000 miles, driver side door, A pillar, B pillar, rear seats, display panel has to be either insulated or replaced. I am not sure how this effects car value or vehicle integrity going forward.”

NHTSA complaint #11517171, filed 2023-04

“When exiting the driver seat of the vehicle my left arm gets caught in the hinge of the back door. This has happen before. This time my arm was bruised bad and shoulder painfully wrenched. The pain was so bad I thought my arm was broken.”

NHTSA complaint #11743272, filed 2026-06

“Windshield of my car cracked spontaneously in two different occasions for no apparent reasons. First incident's occurred in June 2023 resulting in replacement of the windshield. Second incident occurred on December 4,2023 & vehicle is scheduled for replacement of the windshield. I thought the first event was due to rock hitting my car while driving on the highway but very likely it’s a spontaneous crack like the second.”
