Example complaints

Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

“The smart stop system, the vehicle stability control system, the electrical power steering system, the blind spot monitoring system, the secondary collision brake system, and the lane keeping assistance all malfunctioned while traveling home one night. My made a really loud continuous beeping sound as I was driving the vehicle sensed it was departing its lane and the lane keeping assistance over steered left. …”

NHTSA complaint #11620281, filed 2024-10

“The vehicle ADAS system (pre-collision, ABS, RSA, adaptive cruise control) malfunctioned (due to no physical or external fault) and sent messages to be brought to the dealer. Upon being brought to the dealer they’re telling me that the car’s physical battery (low amperage) is responsible for disabling the vehicles factory safety settings. Aside from having an open dispute with this dealer at the moment to cover the problem under my platinum warranty, this is a major defect in Toyota motor corps factory vehicle settings. At the moment the car is a safety liability because of a “battery””
