“Only one incident almost caused an accident (there are a total of 5 different incidents that have happened however). I was pulling out of a parking lot into traffic. The light was green in the direction I was trying to travel, and there was traffic coming but they were far enough away that I could have safely turned into the lane and moved with traffic if the car would have accelerated as was expected. Instead, the collision system deemed that there was an impending collision about to happen and would not allow me to accelerate. …”
NHTSA complaint #11584346, filed 2024-04“When using lane trace assist as part of the adaptive cruise control the vehicle will violently pull the steering wheel to the left or right out of the lane. This will occur even with vehicles in the lane it pulls to that are detected by the blind spot monitoring system. Brought to a Toyota dealership and they only verified 4 wheel alignment however this did not correct the issue.”
NHTSA complaint #11576756, filed 2024-03“The contact owns a 2024 Toyota Camry. The contact stated while driving 65 MPH with the cruise control activated during a rainstorm, the Forward Collision Avoidance: Automatic Emergency Braking system activated, and the vehicle came to a complete stop. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was 250.”
