“rcta alert signal is to low. I can not hear it at all. I turned in a 2015 avalon, that system , i would say was at medium level, easily indentifiable as an alert warning signal. I assume that the change of mounting position from the shelf behind the back seat to the trunk or the warning device itself is the cause of the low volume.”
NHTSA complaint #11592887, filed 2024-06“When I tried to lock or unluck my car's driver's door, it wouldn't lock or unlock. I tried using the key instead of the remote opening but still took some efford. A closer inspection reveal that the little hook thing locking the door wasn't working properly. However, it had happened before that the door could only be unlock through physically using the key, and it has developed into a struggle to open it even with physical key.”
NHTSA complaint #11756583, filed 2026-08“I have experienced on multiple occasions a delay or lack of immediate power when pressing the gas pedal from a complete stop. I have almost caused an accident because of this delayed acceleration when I’m trying to turn or merge into traffic. The car seems to do it randomly so there’s no telling when it’s going to actually accelerate or have the delay, but it has happened frequently enough that I am concerned. My car has barely hit 30,000 miles so I highly doubt that it would be linked to normal wear and tear of the vehicle.”
NHTSA complaint #11771766, filed 2026-10“The sunroof on my Camry would not close. I took it to Toyota in were they determined that the cables bound up in the track and the only fix was a new roof assembly. This is a safety risk because if the sunroof cannot close it allows the vehicle to be susceptible to outdoor elements as well as safety issues regarding theft. The problem was seen and confirmed by the Toyota dealership, in where they replaced the roof assembly in its entirety under warranty. There were no warning lights that were triggered by the roof become inoperable. …”
NHTSA complaint #11647928, filed 2025-03“The moonroof spontaneously shattered when I was driving on the freeway which sounded like a gunshot. There were no external factors such as debris from other vehicles and the temperature outside was relevantly constant at about 78F. No other cars were close to me or in front of me. For almost the entire 2 years I had my car, nothing has ever damaged the moonroof glass. I do want to note an observation that may or may not be linked to the potential safety defect: I do recall hearing strange pebble-like noises occasionally on the freeway & off the freeway at speeds of ~35-65 mph. …”
