“I own a 2024 Toyota Camry LE. The vehicle has an intermittent and unpredictable hesitation when I press the accelerator. At times, the vehicle does not respond normally to accelerator input and hesitates before providing power. After the hesitation, the vehicle can suddenly surge forward. This creates a significant safety concern because predictable acceleration is necessary when merging into traffic, entering an intersection, making a turn, or accelerating from a stop. …”
NHTSA complaint #11768720, filed 2026-10“I have experienced on multiple occasions a delay or lack of immediate power when pressing the gas pedal from a complete stop. I have almost caused an accident because of this delayed acceleration when I’m trying to turn or merge into traffic. The car seems to do it randomly so there’s no telling when it’s going to actually accelerate or have the delay, but it has happened frequently enough that I am concerned. My car has barely hit 30,000 miles so I highly doubt that it would be linked to normal wear and tear of the vehicle.”
NHTSA complaint #11771766, filed 2026-10“The contact owns a 2024 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the braking system erroneously activated, causing the vehicle to decelerate unintendedly. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The manufacturer was contacted, and a field representative was sent to the dealer to examine the vehicle. During the diagnostic test, the vehicle control history report stated that the accelerator pedal and brake pedal had been depressed simultaneously and was caused by driver error. …”
NHTSA complaint #11706473, filed 2025-12, 5,555 miles“vehicle does not always respond when the gas pedal is pushed. the engine revs and rpms increase, but gears don't catch. merging onto highways, or making turns into traffic are terrifying as i'm not sure if the car will go.”
